distressing challenge

Hi again,
despite the gorgeous weather I'm back for another post. Probably cause as long as I avoid the craft room I'm fine and dandy... this evening I just popped in there to put down the lovely things I just received from Mina and I got stuck. So for the Just Magnolia tutorial challenge I've made a distressed box. So what's Magnolia about that then? Well, nothing... but I have a card inside the box :). I know the tutorial was about distressing the edges of the image only but why do things in small? Nah, I spunged and dabbed all over the place, used water with perfect pearls in and made a total mess up to my elbows.

Bev's sketch

This week's challenge at Just Magnolia is a sketch that the very talented Bev made. I used some of the papers I got from the candy parcel that just arrived yesterday from Mina - thank you again :).
I thought it would be fitting to use Bev's signature colours on this card since it is her sketch.

Tag for Thursday

Made a tag that I'm gonna use as a bookmark for all the lovely books I'm gonna plow through this summer. So sorry for one of the gold pearls that are smudged, the cat stepped all over it before it dried and I didn't notice until after I had taken the picture and all... bleh! Well, I'll cut it off and adhere a new one in due time. I distressed the tag with tattered rose, painted the image with my beloved Tombows and embossed the sentiment (got a bunch of clearstamps from Reprint at no cost, luv them)

Anyhow, it fits the Cute card thursday challenge.

paper piecing

Hmm,
when I was out hopping about among the blogs I follow I read about a paper piecing challenge and decided to use an old pattern I have in the basement.
Had to edit this post when I realized that both WoJ and Just Magnolia have paper piecing as their challenge and the bees are Magnolia so it fits!!

Won't work for WoJ but since I won Pinkpuds blog candy the other day I'm a happy puppy anyway and those minor setbacks can't put me down :)

This is the pattern I followed. Changed Mom to You on free hand.

S is for summer

I made cards and chocolate bars for Amanda's teachers for graduation and all I can say is; phew finally vacation!!! I picked out one of the bars cause that will do for the Just Magnolia challenge which is to alter a container and then I have a card I made today for my principal who is retiring this summer. That card fits the ABC challenge that is s for summer. Enjoy!

Finally back for four in one

Hi there,
this time of the year is, I believe, especially designed to make sure all teachers are of excellent physical and mental condition. Cause if we're not, we would just fall over and die. Had the spring show last week with marvellous result but loads of work, just came home from a two day field trip (including damp tents, broken bicycles and strong winds) with my year 7 class, got a pile of papers to grade, final grades are due tomorrow evening, have to practise mountain climbing with my class since next field trip is right on school start in August, graduation is on Thursday and those are just the MAJOR events, did you notice that family matters aren't even mentioned...

My little one sang solo in church on their summer concert on Mother's Day, what a moment :)

And I have finally had (read with force taken) some time to craft a bit and when going through my blog list I found that I could combine four challenges into one card. Now, that's the way, aha aha, I like it!

I used the sketch from Papertake Weekly, Quilted the paper for ABC Challenge, used a charm for Whiff of Joy and used purple and yellow (gold is yellow, yes?) for Stampin for the weekend. Phew! :)
